Bandon, Oregon

June 18, 2021

Yesterday when I drove into Oregon, I was surprised to see signs for the “South Coast.” Wait a minute - it’s the North Coast, right? Tomato, tomato? What’s the North Coast in California becomes the South Coast when you cross into Oregon. Tricky.

Another surprise was how many state parks there are along the Oregon Coast. For perspective on the above map, the blue dot (my campsite) is 90 miles from the California border.

I have a feeling it is going to be a challenge to adapt back to heat and humidity. This morning I am wearing my puffer jacket zipped all the way up. I’m still a bit chilly. I see in the news there is a heat wave but not here. Thinking of the heat wave reminds me of these two songs.
