Sad to see that Tom Seaver passed away. I was never a Mets fan but had a lot of respect for Seaver as a player and as a person.


I love this photo. It gives you a perspective of just how long a pitcher’s stride is. It’s LONG! Seaver was a “drop and drive“ pitcher whereas most pitchers (especially today) are “tall and fall.” I wonder if Seaver’s delivery was different enough from other pitchers that it gave him an advantage?

At one point, I believe the Mets' pitching staff consisted of Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, Gary Gentry, and Nolan Ryan. Maybe Tug McGraw too? A daunting prospect.

Seaver was my second favorite pitcher, after Bob Gibson. The '69 Mets were amazing!!!
